Judith Griffiths ART

Following a lifetime's interest and periodic study in art, I trained at the Kent Institute of Art and Design completing a BA Honours with my work on the subject of old walls in 1999.

My current focus is on landscape, near and far, seeking scenes in which the effects of light and weather offer potential inspiration for a painting.  Once a subject has been found I take photographs as my source material from which to work.

I like to work on boards or canvas that I prepare with layers of acrylic gesso, sanded smooth, and like water mixable oils, for preference COBRA by Royal Talens.  I build up thin layers of paint until I am as satisfied as possible with the result, which can take a month or more.
